Type Locality and Naming

The type section is lies at Aqikebulak and Shuiquangou of Xinjiang. It was named by Zhang Zhongxiu in 1966, and formally cited in Regional Stratigraphic Scale of Xinjiang in 1981.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanics and Volcaniclastics. At Aqikebulake and Shuiquangou, it is dominated by green plagioclase-rich porphyrite, felsite, gray-green andesitic porphyrite, dacite-porphyrite, dacite-porphyritic tuff, tuff sandstone, tuff siltstone, tuff conglomerate, etc. Exposed thickness over 4000 m. At the Yamansu gully, it is Na-rich with exposed thickness of 1600 m. and the basal limestone contains Corals.
